Frequently Asked Questions
Please read and fully understand your RC helicopter manual before you attempt your first flight.
Below are some common questions - if customers have any other questions, then please contact us by email.
Q. When I switch the RC helicopter on, the servos respond but the rotors don't turn?
A. Due to the inbuilt safety cut out, the control unit must
be calibrated before the helicopter will fly. To enable this, you must adhere
to the following procedure:
- Always switch the transmitter on before connecting up the helicopter
battery.
- Move the left stick and trim on the transmitter to their lowest
point (for mode 2 - right stick on mode 1).
- 4 channel transmitter reverse switches should be in the following
order: up - up - down - up.
- 6 channel transmitter reverse switches should be in the following
order: down - up - down - up.
- Switch the idle up switch off (6ch only).
Other settings for 6 Channel transmitters shown below:
Once you have followed this procedure the LED on the control unit will flash red then green, then stay green. The helicopter is now ready to fly.
When you have finished flying always disconnect the helicopter battery before switching off your transmitter.
Q. How do I fit the training set to my ESky helicopter?
A. First click the four small brackets onto the lower part of the skids. Then push
the rods through the holes (illustrated below) and slot them into the circular centre hub.

Once you have attached the balls with the rubber sleeves,
centralise the hub. On initial flights its likely that 'awkward' landings
may cause the balls to fly off, putting a drop of super glue on the outer
rubber sleeves should prevent this.
Q. Where can I download the simulator software?
Q. How do I connect up the Belt-CP?
Q: Why does the helicopter not lift off?
A1: Not enough pitch on the blades. For the CP2: lengthen
the pitch links to increase the blade pitch. The best way to set the blade
pitch is to disconnect the main and tail motor wires for the 4 in 1 controller
(noting their positions) then switch your TX on and connect the heli battery.
Allow the gyro to calibrate then switch the idle up switch on (top left
of TX) then centre the throttle stick (leave trim at the bottom). Now the
blades should have zero pitch (dead level). If the leading edge is pointing
down you need to increase the length of the pitch links. Once you're happy
both blades appear level you can DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY and reconnect your
motor wires on the 4 in 1, switch the idle up on the TX to off and set your
throttle stick to the lowest point. Check your blade tracking (as shown
in the manual) - the heli should now take off at around 60% throttle.
A2: The battery is not charged/has run out (rotor speed too low)
Q: Why does the helicopter lean to the left on take-off?
A: This is due to the normal gyroscopic effect of the blade rotation. With practice you will soon learn to compensate for this.
Q: Why does the helicopter vibrate?
A1: The blades are incorrecly matched/balanced.
A2: The screws on the main blade(s) are too tight.
A3: The flybar is incorrectly balanced.
A4: The main shaft has been bent after a heavy crash.
Q. How long should I charge my Honey Bee NiMh battery for?
A.The battery will be charged within 1.5 hrs. Never leave a charging battery unattended. Never allow the battery to become hot. To get the
most from each cycle you should ensure the battery is discharged before re-charging.
Q. I've damaged my helicopter and I'm not sure what the repair procedure is?
A. We will always offer as much help as possible to assist you with your repairs, please contact us via email.
SAFETY NOTES ON LITHIUM POLYMER (Li-Poly/LiPo) BATTERIES
Lithium Polymer cells have very strict charging requirements:
- ALWAYS charge Li-Poly batteries with the recommended charger.
- NEVER leave Li-Poly batteries unattended whilst charging.
- ALWAYS charge Li-Poly batteries on a fire-proof surface away from any flammable material.
- ALWAYS have sand or dry fire extinguisher to hand in the event of fire - NEVER USE WATER.
- ALWAYS keep Li-Poly batteries out of the reach of children and animals.
- ALWAYS handle Li-Poly batteries with care.
- NEVER put loose batteries with uncovered terminals in your pocket/bag.
- ALWAYS allow battery to cool after use before re-charging. Failure to do so can damage cells and reduce battery life.
