Automated Battery Swapping for Rapid-Response Drone Operations
Introducing DJI Dock 4 – DJI’s first drone dock with automatic battery swapping. Designed for round-the-clock remote operations, Dock 4 pairs with the DJI Matrice 5TD to support emergency response, site security, infrastructure inspections, agriculture and mining. With battery swaps completed in just 25 seconds*, advanced thermal and night-vision imaging, and intelligent workflows through DJI FlightHub 2, it helps teams respond quickly and keep demanding operations moving.
Less Downtime Between Missions
Dock 4 automatically replaces the aircraft’s battery between flights, reducing the time spent waiting for a recharge. Flight data transfers automatically during the swap, helping teams maintain a steady flow of information from the field.
The Matrice 5TD offers up to 59 minutes of flight time under DJI’s test conditions. For operations requiring sustained coverage, FlightHub 2 supports task relay between two aircraft, allowing one to fly while the other remains on standby.
Advanced Imaging, Day and Night
The DJI Matrice 5TD combines wide-angle, telephoto and infrared imaging with laser ranging to handle a broad range of inspection and monitoring tasks.
- 11× telephoto imaging: A 252 mm equivalent focal length captures distant details for closer inspection.
- High-resolution thermal imaging: A 1280 × 1024 infrared camera, with 2560 × 2048 UHR mode, helps identify heat sources and equipment faults.
- Thermal fusion: Combine visible-light and infrared views to see structural detail alongside heat distribution.
- Full-colour night vision: Capture 4K video in low light, with NIR-assisted black-and-white night vision also available.
- Laser ranging up to 3 km: Display distance measurements and PinPoint coordinates to support inspections and response planning.
Intelligent Sensing for Complex Environments
Three-directional mmWave radar, rotating LiDAR and six-directional vision sensing work together to help detect obstacles, including thin wires under specified conditions. High-Wind Descent RTH helps the aircraft return when winds increase, while built-in ADS-B and supported drone identification reception improve awareness of nearby aircraft.
Remote Deployment and Mission Management
DJI Dock 4 requires the DJI O4 Ground Station, which enables flexible positioning of communications equipment to improve coverage at challenging sites.
Through DJI FlightHub 2, teams can remotely control aircraft, plan routes, schedule missions, view live video and manage operational data. Matrice 5TD’s onboard AI detects 17 object types in real time, while supported FlightHub 2 workflows help automate alerts, follow-up actions, analysis and reporting.
Built for Demanding Conditions
Dock 4 operates in temperatures from -40°C to 50°C, with automatic battery preheating in cold weather and air conditioning in high temperatures. The Matrice 5TD supports take-off, landing and flight in winds up to 12 m/s.
For specialist tasks, the aircraft supports payloads of up to 450 g, with compatible accessories including speakers, spotlights, parachutes and third-party sensors. Accessories and mounting hardware may be sold separately.

*Performance figures are based on DJI testing; actual results vary with conditions, configuration and firmware. The 25-second battery-swap time is measured from the dock cover being fully closed to completion of the swap, rather than the complete landing-to-take-off cycle. Maximum flight time was measured without payload or wind, flying at 15 m/s until battery depletion. Features, frequencies and services vary by region and software configuration. Obstacle sensing has limitations; switching on the compatible spotlight disables obstacle sensing.
